Head Lifeguard – Casual (2 Positions)

City of Beaumont is hiring two Head Lifeguards for Beaumont Sport & Recreation Centre, located in the Edmonton region. Help us maintain water safety excellence at one of Alberta's fastest-growing communities.

What This Role Involves

As a Head Lifeguard, you'll lead swimming operations at a state-of-the-art recreation facility. Your expertise will ensure guest safety while you oversee daily aquatic programming and coordinate with a dynamic team. This full-time position combines leadership, vigilance, and a passion for community wellness.

Your Responsibilities

• Supervise all water activities and maintain constant surveillance of swimmers
• Enforce and communicate safety rules and facility policies
• Respond to emergencies with immediate, professional rescue and first aid intervention
• Train and mentor casual lifeguard staff on protocols and best practices
• Conduct routine safety checks of equipment, water conditions, and facilities
• Document incidents and maintain detailed records
• Assist with program scheduling and facility management

Who We're Looking For

• Valid Lifeguard Certification (Lifeguard Society or equivalent; current as of hire date)
• Lead or Head Lifeguard training or demonstrated supervisory experience in aquatics
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure
• Commitment to building a welcoming, safe environment for all guests
• Reliability and flexibility with scheduling including weekends and evenings
