Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology consultancy based in Darmstadt seeking a Senior Software Developer to join their client engagement teams. You will take ownership of complete features and epics from conception through deployment, working directly within client organizations to elevate their technical capabilities.

Your day-to-day will include:

• Taking responsibility for entire features across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and integrations
• Navigating unfamiliar codebases quickly and understanding system architecture holistically
• Communicating directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and explain technical decisions
• Identifying integration and scaling challenges early in the development cycle
• Making risks, dependencies, and blockers visible to the team and stakeholders
• Building small proof-of-concepts when technical questions cannot be resolved otherwise
• Providing estimates that account for uncertainty and clearly communicate technical risks
• Elevating team capabilities through pairing, meaningful code reviews, onboarding, and establishing standards that endure

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• Six to eight years of professional software development experience
• Multiple years of production backend development with TypeScript and Node.js
• Hands-on experience owning architectural decisions, not just implementing them—Domain-Driven Design, hexagonal architecture, and modular monoliths should be patterns you've chosen and maintained
• Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions even when requirements are still evolving
• Strong domain modeling skills for business logic
• Cloud architecture experience with deliberate service selection (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Ability to deliver reliable React applications without being a frontend specialist
• Commitment to writing tests and modeling good review practices
• Capacity to contribute productively to an unfamiliar codebase from week one
• Native-level German proficiency for direct stakeholder communication
