Software Test (QA) Automation Engineer – Mandatory Internship (Unpaid)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential SaaS client in Berlin who is seeking a QA Automation Engineer intern to join their development team. This is a mandatory internship position designed for students currently enrolled in a degree program requiring practical work experience.

Please note: This is an unpaid mandatory internship role as part of an academic program requirement.

Location: Berlin, Germany (remote-first with occasional onsite collaboration)

Start date: October 2026

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain end-to-end UI test automation for a web application
• Write comprehensive test plans, test cases, and regression suites for core user workflows
• Translate product requirements into automated test scenarios, including edge case coverage
• Collaborate with developers on test data strategies and selector stability
• Execute tests in continuous integration environments and track test failures
• Maintain test suite reliability and leverage AI tools to improve efficiency
• Work with modern frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, or Vitest

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree program requiring a mandatory internship
• Hands-on experience with at least one test automation framework (Playwright or Cypress strongly preferred)
• Proficiency with JavaScript or TypeScript and version control using Git
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and principles of reliable test design
• Interest in AI tooling and experience applying AI to development workflows
• Fluent English communication skills

Preferred experience:

• Prior experience with SaaS UI automation projects
• API testing experience using tools like Postman or REST clients
• Based in or near Berlin with ability to participate in occasional onsite collaboration
