(Senior) Accountant (all genders)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential e-commerce organization seeking a Senior Accountant to take ownership of core financial accounting processes in Berlin. You will independently maintain the general ledger, review automatically generated invoices within the ERP system, and lead monthly closing activities. Your responsibilities include preparing HGB annual financial statements, performing balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and provisions on schedule.

You'll handle VAT pre-registrations and coordinate continuously with tax authorities and external tax advisors both domestically and internationally. Weekly payment runs and cash management tasks, including currency purchases, fall under your purview. As the go-to expert for daily accounting questions, you'll conduct regular booking controls and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while actively shaping, optimizing, and implementing new internal workflows and system functionalities.

What We're Looking For

• Completed commercial apprenticeship (e.g., tax specialist or financial accounting) or relevant degree, plus 3–5 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in e-commerce
• Strong knowledge of HGB accounting standards and proficiency with ERP systems and Excel
• Experience in D2C business models and familiarity with cross-border tax topics (UK, Switzerland, Poland) is advantageous
• Understanding of online retail specifics such as payment providers, marketplaces, and shipping cost structures
• Structured, proactive, and meticulous work style combined with analytical thinking
• Passion for automation and digitalization of modern finance processes
• Strong communication skills to serve as a competent partner for internal stakeholders
• German at C2 level, business-fluent English (C1), and residence in or near Berlin
