Senior Manager, Site Merchandising Germany

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand in their search for a Senior Manager, Site Merchandising to lead the German market. This remote role sits at the intersection of digital merchandising, SEO strategy, and customer experience optimization.

Our client operates in the retail space with a focus on quality essentials and a manufacturer-direct model. They are expanding their European presence and need an experienced leader who understands the German e-commerce landscape, can drive organic growth through strategic site merchandising, and collaborate across global teams to localize best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end merchandising strategy for the German website and mobile apps, ensuring seamless customer journeys from homepage to checkout
• Manage and optimize merchandising tools and platforms that power product discovery, personalization, and site performance
• Own the site merchandising calendar and execution for key selling moments including Black Friday/Cyber Monday, holiday seasons, and product launches
• Collaborate with Marketing, Creative, Category Management, and Engineering teams to align onsite experiences with seasonal campaigns and brand priorities
• Partner with global teams to adopt tooling improvements, automation, and merchandising best practices while driving regional metrics
• Use analytics and A/B testing to continuously improve site navigation, product placement, and content engagement
• Drive best practices in product storytelling, cross-selling, and navigation to improve engagement and conversion rates
• Partner with Engineering and Data teams to implement content automation, metadata structuring, and semantic optimization for improved crawlability and search rankings
• Stay ahead of evolving SEO landscapes including Google's SGE and AI-powered search to ensure strong visibility in next-generation search ecosystems

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in site merchandising, e-commerce, digital merchandising, site optimization, or growth/SEO roles
• Proven track record owning end-to-end customer journeys across web and app for high-volume consumer brands
• Experience leading merchandising or digital experience functions for international or multi-market businesses with strong localization expertise
• Strong analytical skills with hands-on experience using A/B testing, web analytics tools (GA4, Amplitude, Mixpanel), and experimentation platforms
• Advanced knowledge of SEO foundations: metadata, internal linking, site structure, schema markup, and crawlability
• Strong understanding of German/EU e-commerce consumer behavior, online buying patterns, seasonal trends, and regulatory considerations
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to articulate complex ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in fast-paced, dynamic environments
• Experience leading design-forward teams obsessed with pixel-perfect craftsmanship
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience creating personalized customer experiences across multiple channels
• Fluency in German and English
• Demonstrated experience applying AI tools to merchandising challenges
• Track record of success in fast-scaling, high-growth environments, ideally in direct-to-consumer (DTC) or omnichannel commerce
• Familiarity with search and merchandising tools (Bloomreach, Algolia), SEO platforms (Botify, Semrush), A/B testing tools (Optimizely, VWO), and product analytics tools (Looker, Tableau)
• Excited by senior individual contributor roles with broad scope and impact
