About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential digital commerce agency based in Cologne that is seeking a talented UI Designer with e-commerce expertise and UX sensibilities. This role focuses on creating visually compelling user interfaces for scalable online platforms serving manufacturers, retailers, and brands.
As their UI Designer, you'll be responsible for crafting the visual language of client projects—from initial concepts through to launch. You'll work within technical constraints while pushing boundaries to deliver modern, high-quality design solutions that are both beautiful and implementable.
This position offers flexible arrangements: full-time or part-time, with a hybrid model requiring just two days per month in the Cologne office. The remainder of your schedule is yours to manage from home or the office as you prefer.
Responsibilities
- Own the design language for assigned projects from concept through go-live
- Develop mood boards, visual concepts, and finalized screen designs
- Create and maintain design systems and pattern libraries
- Collaborate closely with UX, development, and project management teams
- Navigate technical restrictions while maximizing what's achievable within platform constraints
- Support UX teams with wireframe creation when needed
- Apply colors, typography, and design elements with confidence and precision
What We're Looking For
- Experience designing digital products, preferably in e-commerce environments
- Proficiency with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Strong understanding of UX principles to complement your UI work
- Excellent eye for color, form, typography, and proportion
- Ability to work within technical frameworks while creating distinctive, implementable interfaces
- Passion for current design and UX trends
- Independent, methodical work style with practical problem-solving skills
- Curiosity and willingness to experiment with new approaches
- Bonus: Familiarity with Shopware or similar e-commerce platforms
- German language proficiency required for client collaboration
