Senior DFT Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading mixed-signal semiconductor organization seeking a Senior DFT Engineer to join their Edinburgh team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex ASIC designs, implementing sophisticated test strategies that ensure manufacturing quality and product reliability for high-volume consumer electronics applications.

This is a hybrid position requiring 2+ days per week in the Edinburgh office, with scheduling based on team needs and project phases.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement chip-level and block-level DFT strategies for complex ASICs
• Develop and integrate scan architecture, compression logic, boundary scan, MBIST, and LBIST solutions
• Drive ATPG generation, fault simulation, diagnosis, and coverage closure activities
• Collaborate closely with RTL, verification, physical design, and test engineering teams
• Support synthesis, static timing analysis, and physical design flows with DFT-based constraints
• Perform comprehensive DFT verification using simulation environments
• Lead silicon bring-up, debug, and failure diagnosis activities
• Develop automation scripts and methodologies to improve DFT productivity and quality

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Proven industry experience in a DFT engineering position
• Strong understanding of digital design and test methodologies
• Hands-on experience with scan insertion and scan compression techniques
• Expertise in ATPG and fault simulation processes
• Experience implementing MBIST/LBIST solutions
• Knowledge of JTAG and IEEE 1149.1 standards
• Proficiency in test coverage analysis and diagnosis
• Experience with industry-standard EDA tools such as Siemens Tessent and Synopsys TetraMAX/TestMAX
• Strong scripting skills in Tcl and Python
• Familiarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog and simulation environments
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving abilities
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Must be based within commutable distance of Edinburgh or willing to relocate
