About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential biopharmaceutical organization seeking an Associate Director, Patient Navigator Strategy to lead the design and implementation of a patient navigator capability for an innovative oncology therapy launch. This is a unique opportunity to build a patient support function from the ground up for a novel personalized cancer treatment that requires sophisticated coordination across a complex treatment ecosystem.
Reporting to the Director of Patient Support Strategy, you will serve as the business leader responsible for establishing the strategic framework, operating model, and governance structures that enable patient navigators to support patients throughout their treatment journey. This role requires translating patient insights and operational requirements into scalable capabilities that ensure a consistent, compliant, and high-quality patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the patient navigator strategy, operating model, service offerings, and engagement framework to establish navigators as the primary point of contact throughout the therapy journey
- Define how patient navigators support patients across key treatment milestones, providing education, guidance, and non-clinical support through a complex treatment process
- Establish the strategy for patient education resources, including disease education, treatment expectations, process information, timelines, and support materials
- Define patient engagement governance including consent-capture requirements, approved messaging, support guardrails, escalation pathways, and clinical versus non-clinical support boundaries
- Partner with data and technology teams to define CRM capabilities, workflow tools, reporting solutions, and patient visibility systems needed for effective navigator engagement
- Establish navigator performance measures, quality standards, service metrics, and reporting requirements while leveraging insights to identify improvement opportunities
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with marketing, operations, legal, privacy, compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure compliant implementation and continuous program optimization
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (MBA or equivalent preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare organizations with patient services, patient navigation, patient support programs, or care coordination experience
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing patient support programs or patient engagement models with a track record of translating strategy into operational programs
- Experience establishing patient support guardrails, engagement standards, consent requirements, approved messaging, and compliant operational processes
- Knowledge of patient privacy, informed consent, patient-facing communications, and compliance considerations in patient support program design
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities with ability to navigate ambiguity and resolve complex operational challenges
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence across a matrix organization
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience leading patient navigator, care coordination, customer experience, or patient-facing support organizations
- Experience supporting commercialization or launch of advanced therapies including cell therapy, gene therapy, or other complex treatment modalities
- Deep understanding of oncology patient journeys, reimbursement pathways, specialty distribution models, and advanced therapy treatment ecosystems
