About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential quantitative finance organization seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join their London office. Our client applies advanced machine learning and data analytics to investment management and operates production-critical infrastructure at significant scale.
As an SRE, you will work at the intersection of production operations and software development, improving and monitoring critical data pipelines and trading infrastructure. You may join a central Production Operations team working on shared infrastructure, or embed with development teams to enhance specific production systems. This is an opportunity to make measurable impact: your work will directly improve system reliability, reduce operational risk, and increase engineering efficiency across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Improve fault-tolerance and maintainability of code in proprietary data pipelines and trading systems
- Diagnose and fix bugs in production code
- Lead complex deployments
- Automate manual workflows to increase operational efficiency
- Track and prioritize outstanding production-related issues
- Participate in an on-call rotation responding to incidents to ensure continuous operation of production-critical systems
What We're Looking For
Required:
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- Proven experience with coding and debugging in Python
- Strong Linux experience
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills with a persistent drive to make things work better
- Strong growth mindset and passion for learning
- Excellent technical communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field or equivalent relevant industry experience
Preferred:
- Familiarity with best practices for code maintainability, documentation, quality assurance, continuous integration, and deployment
- Experience supporting production systems
- Experience with gRPC microservices, Postgres, Pandas, Golang, R, Git, Jenkins, Bazel, Prometheus, Grafana, Airflow, or Kubernetes
