Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential specialty chemicals organization seeking a Pharmaceutical Technical Business Development Director. In this role, you will develop, lead, and drive business development strategy for specialty chemical ingredients into the pharmaceutical and OTC regulated markets. You will develop and execute key strategic account plans and develop new business growth that aligns with the organization's vision and strategy.
Your responsibilities will include finding and developing new leads for active and excipient ingredients in Rx and OTC markets including specialty skin care, wound care, oral care, optical care, medical inserts, and other specialty applications. You will coordinate and own key assigned accounts, working with commercial resources across the business.
You will develop market sizing and trend analytics and generate information on customer needs, their pipeline, value requirements, competitive information, and benchmarking to guide new product and business development. A key aspect of this position is driving customer-needs-driven conversations to steer innovation pipeline and customer projects.
You will assist customers in selecting best products based on needs, product specifications, and applicable regulations, emphasizing product features based on an analysis of each customer's needs and technical knowledge of product capabilities. You will utilize CRM to write customer call reports, document and foster opportunities, maintain key customer information, and prioritize accounts as part of a process-focused sales development approach.
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Industrial Pharmacy, or related technical field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical technical business development, technical service management, or related position leading business development strategies for specialty chemicals
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical and OTC regulated markets
- Experience with active and excipient ingredients in Rx and OTC applications
- Proven ability to develop strategic account plans and drive new business growth
- Strong technical knowledge to assist customers with product selection and specifications
- Experience with CRM systems for sales development processes
