Global Solutions Architect – Cloud

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential data security and cloud infrastructure organization in their search for a Global Solutions Architect specializing in cloud environments. This is a senior individual-contributor role at Technical Director level, based in London.

In this position, you will serve as the most senior technical authority for public cloud architecture within the professional services practice. You will be deployed to the highest-stakes engagements—flagship accounts, first-of-a-kind architectures, and strategic implementations that set the standard for the entire organization. Between these critical engagements, you will develop reference architectures, service offerings, and enablement materials that elevate the capabilities of the entire consulting team.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Owning the global cloud architecture standard for the professional services organization, including reference architectures, design patterns, and documented best practices
• Acting as the final technical escalation point for cloud architecture decisions on strategic engagements worldwide
• Defining the technical shape of cloud service offerings and establishing positions on emerging cloud capabilities
• Leading architecture and design on the most complex, highest-visibility customer engagements globally, including multi-region, multi-cloud, and multi-regulator environments
• Serving as trusted advisor to customer CIO, CTO, Chief Architect, and CISO stakeholders, defending design decisions in front of architecture review boards
• Partnering with sales and pre-sales teams on strategic pursuits, providing technical validation and risk assessment
• Building reusable intellectual property including reference architectures, deployment automation, design templates, and delivery accelerators
• Mentoring Solutions Architects and senior consultants across all regions, raising the technical ceiling of the practice
• Defining technical competency standards and enablement for cloud architecture within professional services
• Acting as the field's voice into product management and engineering, shaping roadmap priorities and feature direction
• Representing the organization externally at conferences, customer advisory boards, and in published technical material

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 15+ years overall experience, including 8+ years as a hands-on cloud architect at enterprise scale
• Demonstrated ownership of architecture for multi-region, multi-account or multi-subscription cloud estates in a large enterprise or consulting/professional services organization
• Expert-level proficiency in AWS and Azure; GCP strongly preferred
• Genuine depth across compute, storage, networking, identity, and encryption/key management
• Deep understanding of enterprise data protection and cyber resilience including RTO and RPO modelling, immutability, backup and recovery design, and isolated recovery architectures
• Working fluency in cloud security and compliance frameworks and how they constrain design in regulated industries
• Strong automation background including infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep), scripting (Python, PowerShell), API-first integration, and CI/CD
• Track record of influence without authority across global, matrixed organizations and multiple time zones
• Executive-grade communication skills—credible with both C-suite executives and principal engineers
• Evidence of building reusable technical intellectual property, not only delivering successful projects
• Ability to learn complex new platforms to expert depth quickly
• Willingness to travel occasionally

Preferred qualifications:

• Kubernetes and containerized workload architecture; cloud-native and managed database platforms
• SaaS data protection experience (Microsoft 365, Salesforce, and similar)
• Prior Principal, Distinguished, or Technical Director title within a vendor professional services organization or major systems integrator
• Professional or expert-level certifications (AWS Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or equivalent)
• Established public technical presence through talks, writing, open source, or community leadership
