National Service Officer

Role Overview

As a National Service Officer at Paralyzed Veterans Of America, you'll be the connection point between veterans and the benefits and resources they've earned. Your mission is to empower veterans with spinal cord injuries, diseases, and their families by navigating complex VA systems, securing benefits, and providing expert guidance on available support programs. This role combines advocacy, counseling, and direct service delivery in a mission-driven environment where your daily work directly improves the quality of life for the veterans and families we serve.

Core Duties

• Evaluate and represent veterans on benefit claims, including disability compensation, pension, and healthcare eligibility matters
• Conduct comprehensive benefit counseling sessions to identify and explain available programs and entitlements
• Prepare and submit documentation supporting veterans' claims and appeals with accuracy and attention to detail
• Maintain current knowledge of VA regulations, policies, and benefit programs through ongoing professional development
• Provide educational outreach and training to veterans, families, and community partners about available services
• Build collaborative relationships with VA officials and community organizations to enhance service delivery
• Track and manage client cases from intake through resolution, ensuring timely follow-up and communication

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication abilities with the ability to explain complex information clearly
• Demonstrated commitment to veteran advocacy and understanding of military culture
• Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail in managing multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Proficiency with computer systems and willingness to learn VA databases and tools
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education, veterans' benefits training, or prior military service is valued
