RN MedSurg Cardiovascular Thoracic PCU Nights

The Opportunity

UCHealth's Cardiovascular Thoracic PCU provides specialized post-operative and high-acuity care for patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgery. As an RN on the night shift, you'll work with a dedicated clinical team committed to delivering evidence-based nursing care during critical recovery phases. This role comes with night shift pay incentives that reflect the specialized focus required for evening and overnight work. This is an onsite position where your clinical expertise directly impacts patient outcomes in a dynamic, collaborative healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, and clinical condition throughout the shift with accurate documentation in the electronic health record
• Administer medications and manage intravenous therapies per physician orders and facility protocols
• Assess surgical wounds and dressings while monitoring for complications, infection, or adverse changes
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate comprehensive care
• Provide patient and family education regarding recovery progress, medications, and self-management strategies
• Implement nursing interventions to manage pain, prevent complications, and promote optimal healing
• Maintain a safe patient environment and respond promptly to changing clinical needs

Requirements

• Current, active Colorado Registered Nurse license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain
• Proficiency with electronic health records and standard medical equipment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
• Experience in medical-surgical or progressive care nursing preferred
• Ability to work night shift and adapt to a fast-paced clinical environment
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
