Tool and Die Machinist

General Motors is hiring a Tool and Die Machinist for our Huntington, Huntington County facility. This is a full-time position working with our skilled trades team to design, build, repair, and maintain precision tooling and dies that are critical to our manufacturing operations.

What This Role Involves

As a Tool and Die Machinist, you'll operate advanced machinery and hand tools to create and modify dies, molds, and precision components. You'll work in a shop environment where attention to detail and technical precision directly impact product quality. The role requires independent problem-solving and the ability to work from blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications to produce tooling that meets strict tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Design and fabricate dies, molds, and tooling components from raw materials including steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys
• Operate CNC machines, mills, lathes, grinders, and other precision equipment
• Inspect finished tooling against specifications and engineering drawings; make adjustments as needed
• Repair and maintain existing dies to extend their lifespan and performance
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams on design modifications and tooling improvements
• Maintain a safe work environment by following OSHA standards and company safety procedures
• Document work processes and maintain accurate records of completed tooling and repairs

Who We're Looking For

• Journeyperson Tool and Die Maker with proven experience in die fabrication and repair
• Proficiency with precision measurement tools, CNC equipment, and traditional machining methods
• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and CAD drawings
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Commitment to workplace safety and OSHA compliance
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
