About the Role

As a Die Maker Journeyperson at General Motors, you'll take ownership of die fabrication, repair, and maintenance across multiple material types and technical specifications. Working with minimal direct supervision, you'll assess die condition, plan modification and repair approaches, and execute work to the exacting standards that keep manufacturing operations running smoothly.

What You'll Do

• Build, repair, and remodel dies using precision techniques and various materials
• Perform routine and corrective maintenance to extend die life and optimize performance
• Inspect dies for wear, damage, and functionality issues
• Troubleshoot manufacturing problems related to die performance
• Work with precision hand tools, machine tools, and measurement instruments
• Follow OSHA safety standards and General Motors procedures consistently
• Coordinate with production teams to minimize downtime and maintain manufacturing schedules
• Document work completed and maintain accurate records of all die maintenance and repairs

What We're Looking For

• Active journeyperson license or equivalent skilled trades credential in die making
• Demonstrated expertise in die fabrication, repair, and ongoing maintenance
• Proficiency with precision hand tools, machine tools, and measurement equipment
• Knowledge of materials commonly used in die manufacturing
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and die functionality
• Proven commitment to safety compliance and OSHA standards
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
