SDE II, Amazon Endpoint Guardian, Enterprise Engineering

Join Amazon's Enterprise Engineering organization as a Software Development Engineer II for the MODS (Managed Orchestration of Devices & Services) team, based in International, King County. In this full-time position, you will design, develop, and operate device management infrastructure that serves Amazon's global corporate computing fleet at extraordinary scale.

Role Overview

The MODS team is responsible for orchestrating and managing endpoints across Amazon worldwide. You'll work on distributed systems that process 800 million events daily, serve 700,000 requests per hour, and manage 1.5 million Amazon corporate endpoints across 40 consumer teams globally. As an SDE II, you'll influence how Amazon scales device infrastructure and ensures mission-critical reliability across our enterprise computing environment.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed systems powering device management and endpoint orchestration at massive scale
• Build, test, and maintain infrastructure components processing hundreds of millions of events and handling high-volume request loads
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across 40 consumer organizations to deliver platform capabilities and improvements
• Operate production systems, respond to incidents, and drive continuous improvement in system reliability and performance
• Contribute to architectural decisions and technical standards for enterprise device management platforms

Requirements

• Professional experience developing and shipping large-scale distributed systems in production environments
• Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals and systems design principles
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts, scalability patterns, and operational practices
• Experience building or maintaining high-volume transactional systems or event-driven architectures
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills with ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Track record of balancing immediate business requirements with long-term architectural objectives
