Role Overview

As a Diesel Mechanic - Experienced at United Rentals, you'll take ownership of maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing the diesel-powered and heavy equipment that our customers depend on daily. This is a Service Tech IV position where your technical judgment matters—you'll work with substantial autonomy to solve problems, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure equipment meets our rigorous safety and performance standards before returning to rental customers.

Your Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmission systems, hydraulics, and related powerplants on equipment ranging from generators to compressors
• Perform comprehensive preventive maintenance services, including fluid changes, filter replacements, belt and hose inspections, and system diagnostics
• Conduct functional testing and quality inspections to verify equipment meets operational specifications
• Document maintenance and repair work accurately for fleet records and customer handoff
• Maintain shop safety protocols and proper handling of tools, fluids, and hazardous materials
• Work independently or collaboratively with other technicians in a fast-paced service environment
