Role Overview
As a School Based Speech Language Pathologist with Pediatric Developmental Services, you'll provide direct therapeutic intervention to school-age students within an educational setting. You'll work with children during formative developmental periods, applying evidence-based strategies to address speech, language, fluency, and swallowing concerns.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive speech and language evaluations to identify communication disorders and establish baseline functioning
- Design and deliver individualized speech-language intervention aligned with IEP and 504 plan objectives
- Partner with classroom teachers, special educators, and school staff to embed communication strategies across the academic day
- Track student progress through systematic data collection and modify treatment methods to optimize outcomes
- Document clinical findings, treatment sessions, and recommendations in compliance with school and regulatory standards
- Consult with families on home reinforcement strategies and progress updates
- Participate in IEP meetings, screenings, and school-based collaborative planning
Requirements
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited graduate program
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- Active Maryland Speech-Language Pathology license
- Proven experience evaluating and treating children with diverse communication needs
- Proficiency in clinical assessment tools, treatment planning, and pediatric intervention techniques
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with families, educators, and interdisciplinary teams
