Senior Electrical Engineer – Combustion Turbine Fleet

Oglethorpe Power Corporation is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer – Combustion Turbine Fleet for our Tucker, Georgia office. This is a full-time position based in our Capital Projects & Technical Services department, where you'll serve as the enterprise technical lead for the electrical systems supporting our power generation fleet.

Role Overview

As Senior Electrical Engineer for our combustion turbine fleet, you'll take ownership of the electrical infrastructure and systems that power our generation assets across the region. You'll drive long-term reliability, manage lifecycle stewardship of electrical equipment and controls, and provide enterprise-level technical leadership on complex electrical challenges affecting our operations.

What You'll Do

• Lead electrical engineering design, analysis, and maintenance strategies for combustion turbine plants and associated infrastructure
• Ensure reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of electrical systems across the generation fleet
• Oversee lifecycle planning and asset management for electrical equipment, controllers, and protection systems
• Collaborate with plant operations, maintenance, and capital projects teams to support equipment upgrades, retrofits, and improvements
• Mentor junior engineers and establish technical best practices for electrical operations
• Evaluate new technologies and innovations to optimize electrical system performance and efficiency

What You Bring

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one in Georgia
• Advanced experience in electrical engineering for power generation, particularly combustion turbine or similar thermal assets
• Deep knowledge of electrical systems, protection schemes, control systems, and power quality in utility or power plant environments
• Demonstrated expertise in asset management, reliability engineering, and lifecycle cost analysis
• Strong technical communication and leadership skills to influence cross-functional teams
• Familiarity with industry standards (NERC, FERC, IEEE) and power generation regulatory requirements
• Proficiency with electrical engineering software and design tools
