About the Role

As Director of Counseling at Chicopee Public Schools, you'll provide vision and leadership for comprehensive counseling services across the district. Working directly with the Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services, you'll oversee a team dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. What You'll Do

• Lead, supervise, and mentor school counselors and support staff across the district
• Develop and implement comprehensive counseling programs aligned with state and federal standards
• Establish district-wide policies and procedures that promote student mental health and well-being
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and families to address student needs
• Ensure counseling services are accessible, culturally responsive, and equity-focused
• Evaluate program effectiveness and adjust practices based on student outcomes and feedback
• Represent counseling in district leadership meetings and community partnerships

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Counselor Education, or related field
• Valid Massachusetts school counselor license or eligible to obtain one
• Minimum 5 years of professional counseling experience, preferably in school settings
• Proven leadership, management, and supervisory experience
• Strong knowledge of student development, mental health, and evidence-based practices
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and serving all students equitably
