RN Acute Care Transplant / Thoracic

UCHealth is hiring a Registered Nurse for Acute Care specializing in Transplant and Thoracic surgery at our Anschutz Inpatient Pavilion in Aurora, Colorado, serving the Southglenn and Centennial area. This is a full-time, onsite nursing position with day and night shift rotation in our Transplant Medicine department.

About the Role

You will provide direct patient care on a specialized transplant and thoracic acute care unit, serving post-operative and post-transplant patients in a surgical hospital environment. As a key member of the care team, you will monitor complex clinical presentations, collaborate with surgeons and specialists, and ensure each patient receives compassionate, evidence-based nursing care during critical recovery periods.

What You'll Do

• Monitor vital signs, hemodynamics, intake and output, and respiratory status for post-surgical and post-transplant patients
• Administer medications and manage medical devices including drains, catheters, and monitoring equipment
• Document comprehensive patient assessments, interventions, and clinical outcomes in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams during rounds and clinical decision-making
• Educate patients and families about post-operative and post-transplant care protocols, medications, and lifestyle changes
• Identify and escalate changes in patient status promptly to the clinical team
• Support infection prevention, wound care, and patient safety standards in a specialized surgical setting

What We're Looking For

• Current, unrestricted RN licensure in Colorado
• Clinical background or strong interest in acute care, critical care, or surgical nursing
• Proficiency in patient assessment, hemodynamic monitoring, and post-operative nursing
• Strong communication and documentation abilities
• Flexibility to work day and night rotation shifts
• Dedication to patient-centered care in an interdisciplinary environment
• Specialty certifications (such as AACN or trauma nursing) are valued
