Senior Requirements Systems Engineer – Air Traffic Systems (Onsite)

RTX is hiring a Senior Requirements Systems Engineer for air traffic control systems at our Fullerton, Orange County facility. This full-time, onsite role reports to the Air Traffic Systems division and offers the opportunity to shape the safety and efficiency standards that support the National Airspace System.

About the Role

As a Senior Requirements Systems Engineer, you'll own the definition, documentation, and management of system requirements for air traffic control and surveillance applications. You'll serve as a bridge between stakeholder needs, engineering teams, and regulatory mandates—ensuring every requirement is traceable, verifiable, and aligned with FAA standards and industry best practices.

What You'll Do

• Develop, analyze, and refine system and subsystem requirements using industry frameworks and methodologies
• Create and maintain comprehensive requirements documentation, traceability matrices, and specification baselines
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems architects, software engineers, test specialists, and program leadership
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications
• Conduct requirements reviews and manage change control processes
• Support verification and validation activities, linking test results to requirements
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to process improvements within the requirements discipline

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
• 7+ years of professional experience in systems or requirements engineering, ideally in aerospace, defense, or safety-critical domains
• Demonstrated expertise in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation
• Familiarity with air traffic systems, avionics, or similar complex, regulated environments
• Strong command of requirements management tools and methodologies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries
• U.S. citizenship is required for this position
