In this part-time position, you'll help create and maintain safe, stable environments where individuals experiencing homelessness can build the foundation for long-term housing stability.
About the Role
Working Friday and Saturday evenings from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, you'll be the consistent presence that helps keep our interim housing site secure and welcoming. You'll use observation, engagement, and de-escalation skills to build trust with residents while identifying and addressing safety concerns—both preventing problems and responding thoughtfully when crises arise. Partnering closely with our case management team and security personnel, you'll ensure every person in our care has access to a stable, supportive environment.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular rounds of the housing facility and grounds, observing conditions and documenting safety or maintenance concerns
- Engage residents through low-barrier practices, building rapport and encouraging participation in maintaining a secure community
- Apply non-violent crisis intervention and verbal de-escalation techniques to support residents through challenging moments
- Coordinate with our case management team to provide integrated support services
- Work with contracted security partners to maintain site safety and security protocols
- Prepare written documentation and reports on site safety, security events, and resident needs
What We're Looking For
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and the ability to identify patterns and trends
- Clear communicator—both written and verbal—who engages effectively with residents, colleagues, and partners
- Collaborative team player committed to building positive working relationships
- Proactive problem-solver who takes initiative and thinks creatively about solutions
- Commitment to ethical standards, integrity, and maintaining professional boundaries
- Preferred: One year of experience working with vulnerable populations, in security, or with crisis intervention and de-escalation training
Mandatory Requirements
- Valid work authorization for employment in the United States
- CPR/First Aid certification, or willingness to complete the certification
- Ability to pass tuberculosis testing, background screening, and drug screening
