INC Senior Cut & Sew Designer

Macy's is seeking a Senior Cut & Sew Designer for our INC brand in Chelsea and Clinton, Manhattan. In this full-time role, you'll lead the design and technical development of cut and sew garments, working directly with our design and production teams to create on-brand, market-ready pieces.

About the Role

As a Senior Cut & Sew Designer at Macy's INC, you'll take ownership of garment design from concept through production. You'll develop patterns, create samples, and refine garment construction to meet our quality and design standards. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of apparel while collaborating with cross-functional teams in our Manhattan design hub.

What You'll Do

• Develop and grade patterns for apparel based on design specifications and brand guidelines
• Create technical specifications and construction details for production
• Build and refine garment samples, conducting fit tests and quality reviews
• Collaborate with design, sourcing, and production teams to ensure design intent is achieved
• Analyze garment performance and recommend construction improvements
• Maintain detailed records of patterns, specifications, and sample iterations
• Meet production timelines while maintaining quality standards

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience in cut and sew design or apparel construction
• Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Construction, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Strong proficiency in pattern making and grading techniques
• Solid understanding of garment construction methods, seam types, and finishing techniques
• Experience with design and technical software (CAD, PLM, or similar tools a plus)
• Excellent attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate technical details clearly
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
