UCHealth is hiring a full-time RN Fellow for our Surgical Progressive Care Unit in Lakewood, Denver—a specialized nursing fellowship designed to develop clinical expertise while providing exceptional care to post-operative and acutely ill patients.
About the Role
This RN Fellowship in the Surgical Progressive Care Unit offers 36 hours per week with rotating day and night shifts. You'll work at our Anschutz Medical Campus, caring for patients in a progressive care setting where clinical complexity, patient acuity, and teamwork drive daily learning. Compensation ranges from $35.29 to $54.71 per hour, based on your relevant nursing experience. This is an onsite position with no remote or hybrid options. As an RN Fellow, you'll develop advanced clinical skills while contributing directly to patient care and unit excellence.
What You'll Do
- Provide direct, compassionate care to post-operative and acutely ill patients in a progressive care environment
- Monitor and assess patient status, vital signs, and clinical changes continuously
- Collaborate with surgeons, hospitalists, and interdisciplinary teams on patient care plans
- Administer medications, manage complex IV therapy, and perform procedures within your scope of practice
- Educate patients and families on post-operative recovery, medications, and self-care
- Participate actively in clinical rounds and evidence-based practice initiatives
- Develop professional competencies essential for long-term success in acute care nursing
What We're Looking For
- Registered Nurse license (RN) in Colorado or eligibility for Colorado licensure
- Graduation from an accredited nursing education program
- Strong critical thinking and patient assessment skills
- Excellent communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
- Ability to manage multiple patients and complex clinical situations
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and as needed
- Commitment to professional development and evidence-based practice
