About the Role
As a Senior Associate Data Engineer at PwC, you'll design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines that transform raw organizational data into powerful business intelligence. Working within our Data, Analytics & AI practice, you'll partner with clients across industries to engineer solutions that unlock competitive advantage through advanced data management and analytics infrastructure. This role offers significant travel, up to 60% of the time, enabling direct client engagement and hands-on technical leadership.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement enterprise data architecture, including data warehouses, lakes, and integration platforms
- Develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data engineering tools and cloud platforms
- Build data models and schema designs that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning workflows
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
- Optimize data platform performance, reliability, and security across on-premise and cloud environments
- Lead technical design reviews and provide mentorship to junior engineers on your projects
- Troubleshoot complex data issues and implement best practices for data governance and quality
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional data engineering experience building production data systems
- Expertise in SQL, Python, Scala, or Java for data processing and pipeline development
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Demonstrated proficiency with modern data tools and frameworks (Spark, Airflow, Kafka, or equivalent)
- Solid understanding of data warehouse and data lake architecture patterns
- Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating across technical teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Willingness to travel up to 60% for client engagements
