Clinical Lab Scientist I – Special Coagulation

Quest Diagnostics is hiring a full-time Clinical Lab Scientist I – Special Coagulation to join its laboratory team in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California. This on-site, second-shift role supports advanced coagulation testing that helps clinicians diagnose and manage complex bleeding and clotting disorders.

About the Role

As a Clinical Lab Scientist I in the Special Coagulation department, you will perform high-complexity laboratory analyses with precision and accuracy. The position follows a Wednesday-through-Sunday schedule from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM and is based fully on-site in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Eligible candidates may receive a shift differential of 10% for designated second-shift hours and 15% for designated third-shift hours. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for external applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out specialized coagulation testing in accordance with established laboratory protocols and quality standards.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instrumentation used in the Special Coagulation department.
• Review, verify, and document test results to ensure reliable, timely reporting.
• Follow quality control, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements throughout each shift.
• Collaborate with laboratory colleagues and clinical staff to support accurate patient diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Eligibility to work as a Clinical Lab Scientist in California, consistent with state and laboratory licensing requirements.
• Background or training in clinical laboratory science, ideally with exposure to coagulation or hematology testing.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and adherence to documented procedures.
• Ability to work the scheduled Wednesday–Sunday evening shift on-site in San Juan Capistrano.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills within a fast-paced diagnostic environment.

Compensation

The pay range for this Clinical Lab Scientist I role is $37.41 to $56.44 per hour, with applicable shift differentials and a $5,000 sign-on bonus available to external hires.
