Elementary Paraprofessional – Developmental Learning Program Classrrom in Partner with NECC

Lynnfield Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Paraprofessional for the Developmental Learning Program classroom partnered with NECC, located in Lynnfield, Essex County.

About the Role

This full‑time position supports students with diverse learning needs within a specialized classroom setting. Working under the direction of a special education teacher, the paraprofessional helps implement individualized education plans and fosters a supportive environment where each learner can progress toward their personal goals.

What You'll Do

• Assist the special education teacher in delivering instruction tailored to each student’s IEP objectives.
• Provide one‑on‑one and small‑group support to reinforce academic concepts, communication skills, and social‑emotional development.
• Help students with physical accommodations, mobility needs, and daily living skills as outlined in their plans.
• Monitor student progress, collect data, and share observations with the teaching team to inform instructional adjustments.
• Prepare and organize learning materials, adapt resources, and maintain a safe, orderly classroom environment.
• Collaborate with related service providers, parents, and school staff to ensure consistent support across settings.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in education, child development, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with children who have developmental, learning, or behavioral challenges, ideally in a school or therapeutic setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
• Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering independence and growth in every learner.
• Basic knowledge of IEP processes and the ability to follow detailed instructions from teachers and specialists.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, for documenting observations and participating in team meetings.
• Reliability, professionalism, and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
