About the Role
The Associate Scientific Director, Oncology – US Medical Affairs serves as a strategic scientific leader within AbbVie's medical affairs function. You will balance operational rigor with thought leadership, ensuring that healthcare provider relationships, clinical communications, and scientific initiatives consistently deliver high-impact value that supports clinical decision-making and patient care in oncology.
What You'll Do
- Engage directly with oncology healthcare professionals, institutional providers, and key opinion leaders to understand clinical needs and facilitate evidence-based discussions
- Analyze clinical trial data, real-world evidence, and scientific literature to identify therapeutic benefits and communicate value propositions effectively
- Design and execute medical education programs, scientific symposia, and communication initiatives that elevate clinical knowledge and support practitioner engagement
- Contribute strategic input to core medical affairs activities, including protocol design feedback, competitive intelligence, and scientific strategy recommendations
- Develop scientifically rigorous content for healthcare professionals while ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and industry standards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical development, commercial, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment on medical messages and scientific positioning
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or relevant life sciences master's) with scientific expertise in oncology or related therapeutic area
- Demonstrated experience in medical affairs, clinical research, scientific affairs, or related healthcare roles
- Strong ability to synthesize complex clinical and scientific data and communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop compelling scientific narratives
- Professional experience engaging with healthcare professionals and key stakeholders in clinical settings
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives while maintaining scientific rigor and regulatory compliance
- Strategic mindset with strong organizational and project management capabilities
