About the Role
This director-level position leads data strategy and performance measurement across Commerce Department initiatives. You'll translate raw data into actionable insights, coordinate policy analysis with stakeholder teams, and ensure consistent, transparent reporting on departmental progress and outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain data collection, management, and analysis protocols aligned with department-wide strategic priorities
- Create performance metrics and measurement frameworks that track initiative success and inform policy decisions
- Prepare comprehensive reports, research summaries, and analytical briefs for internal and external audiences
- Coordinate with Communications and Policy teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency in all department messaging
- Lead cross-functional research initiatives that support Commerce Department strategy and operational planning
- Design and implement reporting systems that provide visibility into program performance and business outcomes
What We're Looking For
- Proven leadership experience managing data teams, analytics programs, or strategic initiatives in government, nonprofit, or large enterprise
- Expert proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and metrics design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex data to non-technical audiences
- Experience developing and interpreting performance metrics and KPIs for organizational strategy
- Familiarity with government operations, municipal administration, or public policy (preferred)
- Advanced degree in data science, analytics, public administration, economics, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
