About the Role
As Assistant Cook at the Leon Older Adult Center, you'll play a vital part in our mission to support older adults in the Bronx community. Working under the Program Director's supervision, you'll contribute to creating nutritious, appealing meals that enhance the wellbeing and daily experience of our participants. This role combines hands-on food preparation with a commitment to quality, safety, and dignity in service to seniors.
What You'll Do
- Prepare, cook, and plate meals according to established recipes and nutritional guidelines
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times
- Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
- Assist with meal planning and ingredient inventory as needed
- Support special dietary needs and accommodations for participants
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and the broader program team
