About the Role

As Director of Payroll Operations, you'll oversee all aspects of payroll management and compliance for a large, growing organization. This role demands deep familiarity with enterprise payroll platforms and the ability to manage intricate employee populations—including those with equity compensation, stock options, and other non-standard compensation structures. You'll serve as a strategic leader, defining payroll processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimizing operational efficiency across teams.

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll operations team to maintain service quality and meet organizational goals
• Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, including complex compensation scenarios and equity programs
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements
• Manage relationships with payroll service providers and external partners
• Drive process improvements and implement best practices in payroll technology and workflows
• Prepare and present payroll reporting and analysis to executive leadership
• Maintain data security, confidentiality, and system integrations across payroll platforms

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience managing payroll operations in a large, complex enterprise environment
• Advanced proficiency with modern enterprise payroll platforms and HRIS systems
• Deep expertise in equity compensation, stock option administration, and non-standard compensation programs
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll and employment tax compliance
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing and mentoring payroll teams
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication abilities and experience engaging with cross-functional stakeholders
