Extra Duty- High School Assistant Coach – Girls Soccer

Gresham Barlow School District seeks an energetic and dedicated High School Assistant Coach for Girls Soccer to join the athletics program at Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, Oregon. This is a full-time position supporting our competitive girls soccer team with coaching, mentorship, and program development.

About the Role

As an assistant coach, you will work under the direction of the head coach to develop student-athletes' skills, confidence, and love for the game. You'll play a vital role in creating a positive, inclusive team culture while preparing athletes for competitive play. This position requires commitment to both on-field excellence and the holistic development of young players during the season and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Plan and conduct team practice sessions focused on skill development, tactical understanding, and team chemistry
• Provide direct player instruction, feedback, and technical coaching during practices and games
• Assist with game preparation, in-game strategy execution, and post-game analysis
• Help manage team logistics, including equipment, travel, and compliance with athletic policies
• Support player recruitment, retention, and community outreach for the program
• Model and enforce standards of discipline, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility
• Collaborate with head coach and athletic department on program goals and player development

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience coaching high school soccer or equivalent competitive youth soccer
• Deep knowledge of soccer fundamentals, tactics, and conditioning
• Ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and school staff
• Commitment to athlete safety, development, and positive mentorship
• Flexibility and willingness to work evenings, weekends, and during athletic seasons
• Valid CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain it
• Passion for building strong team culture and developing young talent
