About the Role
Windham Hospital's Nurse Residency program is purpose-built to accelerate newly licensed nurses into confident clinical practice. You'll work 12-hour night shifts on the Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit at Windham Community Memorial, rotating every other weekend with holiday assignments distributed throughout the year.
What You'll Do
- Deliver direct patient care in a telemetry setting, including continuous cardiac monitoring and vital sign assessment
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and respond to patient changes with clinical judgment
- Document care accurately in electronic health records and communicate effectively with the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and fellow nurses in daily rounds and treatment planning
- Prioritize patient safety, comfort, and dignity during the night shift
- Develop clinical skills through one-on-one mentoring from experienced RNs
What We're Looking For
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse (GN) license in Connecticut
- Recent nursing graduate or early-career nurse with strong foundational knowledge
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and patient-centered care
- Flexibility to work rotating night shifts and every-other-weekend schedules
- Willingness to ask questions, seek feedback, and continuously improve clinical skills
