The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) is seeking an experienced leader to serve as Director, Urban and Community Forestry US, based in Washington, D.C. About the Role
As Director, Urban and Community Forestry US, you will guide SFI's efforts to strengthen trees and forests within American cities and communities. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow SFI's urban and community forestry initiatives throughout the United States.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with SFI-certified organizations, community groups, and conservation partners.
- Develop program strategy, set priorities, and oversee the delivery of forestry projects in urban settings.
- Represent SFI in collaborations that promote sustainability and the value of community trees.
- Support cross-functional work that connects forest stewardship with the needs of local communities.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in forestry, urban forestry, natural resources, or a related field.
- A track record of building and managing partnerships across diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong program management skills with the ability to set and execute strategic priorities.
- A commitment to sustainability and the mission of community-focused forest stewardship.
- Willingness to work on-site in Washington, D.C.
