Youth Care Worker-Shelter FT 2nd shift

County of Lancaster is hiring a full-time Youth Care Worker for our shelter facility in Lancaster, Lancaster County. This is a second shift position offering competitive pay starting at $45,697.60 annually, along with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives in our community.

About the Role

As a Youth Care Worker in a shelter environment, you'll provide direct care, supervision, and mentorship to youth in residential placement. This second shift role is essential to our facility's operations, requiring you to maintain a safe, supportive living space and respond to the needs of young residents during evening and overnight hours.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and support youth residents during second shift hours, ensuring their safety and well-being
• Help with daily living activities including meals, homework assistance, and evening programming
• Build positive relationships with residents through consistent, compassionate interaction
• Document resident behavior, progress, and any concerns in required reports
• Implement behavior management strategies and reinforce facility rules and expectations
• Participate in crisis intervention training and respond appropriately to behavioral situations
• Collaborate with social workers, counselors, and other facility staff on resident care plans
• Maintain a clean, organized shelter environment suitable for youth residents

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to work a full-time second shift schedule reliably
• Genuine interest in youth development and shelter care
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical and emotional capacity for a demanding care environment
• Willingness to complete training and maintain required certifications
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Background check clearance required
