Underwriter / Account Executive, Life Sciences

Travelers is hiring a full-time Underwriter / Account Executive, Life Sciences for our Atlanta, Fulton County office. Join one of the nation's most established property casualty insurers and build a career underwriting innovative products for the life sciences industry.

About the Role

As an Underwriter / Account Executive focused on Life Sciences, you'll evaluate complex insurance applications, assess emerging risks in biotech, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and related sectors, and structure competitive coverage solutions. You'll own the full client lifecycle—from initial risk evaluation through policy issue and renewal—partnering with brokers, clients, and internal teams to grow profitable business and strengthen client relationships in a dynamic, fast-moving industry vertical.

What You'll Do

• Review detailed underwriting submissions, financial statements, and industry-specific data to make sound risk decisions
• Apply deep Life Sciences sector knowledge to identify exposures, gaps, and opportunities in coverage
• Develop account strategies that balance client needs with Travelers' risk appetite and underwriting guidelines
• Communicate decisively with brokers and clients, explaining underwriting rationale and building confidence in your expertise
• Manage renewals and policy changes, driving retention and expanding relationships across your account portfolio
• Collaborate with actuaries, claims, and management to refine processes and adapt to market conditions
• Meet individual and team production goals while maintaining underwriting discipline

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, biology, or engineering
• 2+ years of underwriting, risk assessment, or account management experience in insurance or related fields
• Familiarity with Life Sciences industries—biotech, pharma, medical device, or research-intensive sectors—or willingness to build specialized knowledge quickly
• Strong analytical and communication skills; comfort presenting and negotiating with clients and brokers
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and industry expertise
