Role Overview

Environment Southland, as a Regional Council, is dedicated to the sustainable management of Southland's natural resources: land, water, air, and coast. We are currently seeking an experienced Team Leader for our Air & Terrestrial Sciences team. This role will be based in Invercargill, Southland, with no remote working options.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of scientists and researchers focused on air quality and terrestrial ecosystems
• Develop and implement strategies to monitor and manage environmental impacts
• Conduct research and analysis to inform policy development and environmental management practices
• Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective environmental stewardship
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements

What You Bring

• A degree in Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in air quality management or terrestrial ecology
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate team members
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A commitment to sustainable environmental practices
