What This Role Involves
Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) is seeking highly motivated and energetic applicants for the position of Teacher of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students at Henderson Elementary. The role involves working with students who have varying degrees of hearing loss, providing them with educational support to ensure they can access the curriculum effectively.
Responsibilities
- Educate deaf and hard-of-hearing students in a variety of subjects using appropriate teaching methods and materials
- Collaborate with other educators, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and other specialists to provide comprehensive support for students
- Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding their child's performance
- Promote a positive learning environment that encourages independence, self-advocacy, and academic success for all students
What You Bring
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution
- A valid Wisconsin teaching license with endorsement in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education
- Experience working with deaf and hard-of-hearing students, preferably in an elementary school setting
- A strong passion for impactful work and learning, along with the willingness to continuously learn and adapt new strategies
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues
