Summer Student Support Specialist II (5 positions)

Eastconn is hiring for 5 full-time Summer Student Support Specialist II positions as part of our 2025 Extended School Year Program in Willimantic, Windham County. This opportunity offers meaningful work supporting students during a concentrated summer learning session, working Monday through Thursday from July 1–30 at our Educational and Vocational Center in Columbia, CT.

About the Role

This summer position provides direct, hands-on support to students participating in our Extended School Year Program. As a Student Support Specialist II, you'll play a vital role in creating an engaging, supportive educational experience that helps students build academic skills, confidence, and positive learning habits. You'll work alongside experienced educators and specialists in a collaborative team environment committed to student success.

What You'll Do

• Deliver direct academic and behavioral support to students in the Extended School Year Program
• Assist students in meeting program learning goals and skill development objectives
• Help create and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with teachers, educational specialists, and program coordinators
• Monitor student progress, document engagement levels, and report observations to program staff
• Support student motivation, independence, and success in academic and social-emotional growth
• Follow program protocols and contribute to a well-organized learning space

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED
• Documented experience as a Student Support Specialist I or in a comparable student support position
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with K–12 students in an educational environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and collaborate with school staff
• Reliability, flexibility, and genuine commitment to supporting student success
