Software Quality Engineering Lead

We're seeking an experienced Software Quality Engineering Lead to join Mindera's remote team, based in South Africa. As a strategic leader in quality assurance and testing, you'll drive excellence across our product development lifecycle, mentoring teams and shaping our quality standards for maximum customer impact.

Role Overview

In this full-time remote position, you'll lead quality engineering efforts across product and platform teams, balancing hands-on technical contribution with people leadership. You'll establish testing frameworks, automate critical workflows, and champion a culture where quality ownership permeates every engineering level. This role reports directly to engineering leadership and influences product decisions across the organisation.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a software quality engineering team, defining careers and fostering technical growth through coaching, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving
• Design and maintain comprehensive test automation strategies covering unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing
• Work closely with product and engineering leadership to identify quality risks, plan test coverage for new features, and establish quality metrics
• Champion continuous improvement in development velocity and product reliability by removing testing bottlenecks
• Establish and enforce quality standards, best practices, and testing documentation across teams
• Contribute hands-on to critical automation projects and solve complex testing challenges

Who We're Looking For

• 5+ years of software quality assurance or testing, with 2+ years in a leadership or senior technical role
• Expertise in test automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and quality tooling
• Strong experience mentoring engineers and leading cross-functional quality initiatives
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language used in test automation
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
• Deep knowledge of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and quality metrics
