Senior Java Developer (with Azure)

About the Role

We're seeking a Senior Java Developer who brings deep expertise in Java development and Azure cloud services to lead technical initiatives across our projects. In this role, you'll design, build, and maintain robust backend systems, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact software solutions. Your experience with Azure and Java will be central to modernising our infrastructure and expanding our technical capabilities across multiple client engagements.

Core Duties

• Design and develop scalable Java applications and microservices architectures, with emphasis on Azure cloud deployment
• Architect solutions using Azure services including App Service, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Azure Functions
• Write clean, maintainable code whilst adhering to established design patterns and coding standards
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and team members to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers on best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimise application performance and cloud infrastructure costs
• Participate in architectural decisions and contribute to continuous improvement of development processes

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional Java development experience
• Demonstrated expertise in Azure cloud platform and services
• Strong understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and software architecture patterns
• Experience with REST APIs, relational databases, and distributed systems
• Proficiency with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in collaborative team environments
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
