About This Position
Merge Labs is a frontier research lab with the mission of bridging biological and artificial intelligence to maximize human ability, agency, and experience. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Platform SDK / Instrument Control to join our team in South San Francisco, California. This role will be full-time, on-site.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining fundamental new approaches to brain-computer interfaces that interact with the brain at high bandwidth
- Integrating advanced AI into our platform SDKs and instrument control systems
- Ensuring safety and accessibility of our products for widespread use
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, data scientists, and product managers
- Writing clean, efficient code that adheres to best practices in software engineering
- Participating in code reviews and providing constructive feedback to peers
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or similar role
- Expertise in developing platform SDKs and instrument control systems
- Strong knowledge of C++, Python, and other relevant programming languages
- Familiarity with AI integration techniques and tools
- Experience with high-bandwidth data processing and real-time systems
- Ability to work independently while also being a team player
- A deep understanding of safety protocols in medical devices or similar fields is a plus
