The Opportunity

We're seeking seasoned full-stack software engineers to join Gusto's Time / Scheduling product team. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll shape features from early spec and design through launch and long-term iteration. You'll write clean frontend code, design and build reliable backend APIs, influence product direction, and take ownership of post-launch operations.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and develop features for Gusto's customer-facing products
• Influence the overall product direction in collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Tackle complex technical challenges to improve the user experience for small business owners and their employees
• Write clean, maintainable code across frontend and backend layers
• Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality software products

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for experienced full-stack software engineers who are passionate about combining technical craft with real-world impact. You should have a strong background in both frontend and backend development, as well as experience working on complex systems that handle high volumes of data.

• Experience with JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular
• Proficiency in server-side technologies such as Node.js, Python, or Ruby
• Familiarity with RESTful API design and implementation
• A proven track record of delivering high-quality software products
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
