Senior Legal Counsel – Pharmaceutical Contracting

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel specializing in Pharmaceutical Contracting to join our legal team in Talcott Village, Hartford County. This is a full-time position where you'll provide strategic legal guidance on complex pharmaceutical agreements and support our mission to make healthcare more accessible and patient-centered.

About the Role

As Senior Legal Counsel for Pharmaceutical Contracting, you'll be the key legal advisor for our pharmaceutical partnerships, supplier agreements, and regulatory compliance matters. You'll manage high-stakes negotiations, review and draft sophisticated contracts, and ensure our contracting practices align with federal healthcare laws and company policy. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and legal compliance, where your expertise directly impacts our ability to deliver quality pharmaceutical services.

What You'll Do

• Draft, review, and negotiate pharmaceutical supply agreements, licensing agreements, and distribution contracts
• Provide legal analysis on drug pricing regulations, Medicare/Medicaid compliance, and FDA requirements
• Manage contract lifecycle activities including execution, amendment, and renewal
• Advise business stakeholders on legal risks and commercial implications of proposed contracts
• Collaborate with procurement, pharmacy operations, and compliance teams on contract strategy
• Monitor regulatory changes affecting pharmaceutical contracting and adjust practices accordingly
• Support litigation matters related to pharmaceutical contracts when necessary

What We're Looking For

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar license in Connecticut or ability to obtain one
• 8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical law, healthcare contracting, or related legal practice
• Strong knowledge of FDA regulations, drug pricing laws, and controlled substance requirements
• Proven track record drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate legal concepts for business teams
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience in a healthcare or pharmaceutical industry setting preferred
