About the Role
As a Senior Designer at WoodJobs, you'll own the creative direction for custom casework and retail display projects from initial client meetings through final installation. You'll serve as the bridge between client vision and manufacturing capability, using your design expertise to solve complex commercial interior challenges. This is a full-time position with a starting base salary of $60,000–$90,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
What You'll Do
- Partner directly with clients to understand project requirements and translate their needs into compelling design solutions
- Develop detailed design concepts, specifications, and technical drawings for custom casework installations and retail display systems
- Work alongside the sales team to support proposals, scope refinement, and project closeouts
- Select materials, finishes, and hardware that balance aesthetics, durability, and manufacturing feasibility
- Manage design iterations and client feedback to ensure project alignment
- Collaborate with production and project management teams to ensure designs are buildable and cost-effective
- Stay current with industry trends, design software, and best practices in commercial cabinetry
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 5+ years of professional design experience in commercial casework, retail fixtures, or related built environments
- Strong portfolio demonstrating custom casework, storage solutions, or retail display projects
- Proficiency with design software (CAD, SketchUp, or equivalent tools)
- Deep understanding of wood materials, hardware options, and fabrication methods
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to balance creative vision with practical manufacturing constraints
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and project management abilities
- Passion for design excellence and commitment to continuous improvement
