Repair and Tool Technician

Home Depot is seeking a Repair and Tool Technician to join its team in Fort Collins, Larimer County.

This full‑time position focuses on keeping small‑engine equipment, outdoor power tools, and handheld electrical devices running smoothly for customers and store operations.

About the Role

As a Repair and Tool Technician you will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and recommend equipment solutions that keep our Tool Rental Centers and repair shops operating efficiently. You’ll work directly in store locations and dedicated repair facilities, ensuring that every unit meets safety and performance standards before it returns to service.

What You'll Do

• Inspect and troubleshoot small engines, outdoor power equipment, and battery‑powered handheld devices
• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and part replacements according to manufacturer guidelines
• Provide clear equipment recommendations to customers based on performance and suitability
• Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and repair outcomes
• Monitor inventory of tools and replacement parts, requesting replenishment as needed
• Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area
• Assist with training and guidance for associate team members on proper tool use and care
• Collaborate with store management to schedule service appointments and manage workflow

What We're Looking For

• Experience repairing small engines, outdoor power equipment, or handheld electrical devices
• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with diagnostic tools
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Excellent customer service skills and a solution‑focused mindset
• Basic computer proficiency for logging work orders and parts requests
• Commitment to workplace safety and attention to detail
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends, as store needs require
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in small engine repair is a plus
