Registered Nurse (RN) – ED – Emergency Department – $40-60 per hour

The Opportunity

UW Health is recruiting a Registered Nurse for its Emergency Department in Fitchburg. In this role, you'll work an evening and night shift schedule with weekend rotations, supporting a skilled nursing team dedicated to delivering compassionate emergency care. Hours may vary based on departmental operational needs. With a competitive pay range of $40–60 per hour, this position is ideal for an RN seeking meaningful work in acute emergency care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in emergency settings, including triage, assessment, and treatment support
• Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, communicating changes to the medical team
• Administer medications and follow clinical protocols established by UW Health
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary staff during emergencies
• Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with medical records standards
• Respond to emergency situations with strong clinical judgment and quick decision-making
• Support department operations and adapt to shifting priorities based on patient volume and acuity

Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligible for expedited licensure
• BSN or ADN degree from an accredited nursing program
• Strong clinical foundation in patient assessment and emergency care protocols
• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work evening, night, and weekend shifts as scheduled
• Valid healthcare provider CPR certification (or ability to obtain)
