Power Plant Construction Site Manager – Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Trades

Jacobs is seeking a Construction Site Manager for Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Trades to lead critical systems installation on large-scale thermal power generation projects in Illinois Medical District, Chicago. This is a full-time position that places you at the center of complex infrastructure development.

About This Position

This role combines hands-on site leadership with oversight of electrical distribution, instrumentation, and automatic control systems for major power plant construction. You'll be responsible for directing the installation, testing, and commissioning of systems that form the backbone of modern power generation facilities. Your focus will be on meeting stringent safety requirements, quality standards, and contractual timelines while building and leading a high-performing team of skilled electricians and technicians.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead and direct construction crews performing electrical, instrumentation, and controls installations
• Enforce compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), industry standards, and engineering specifications
• Plan daily construction activities and manage workflow to keep the project on schedule
• Establish and maintain rigorous safety standards, conduct toolbox talks, and investigate safety incidents
• Review work quality, perform inspections, and ensure all installations meet specification
• Oversee material ordering, equipment logistics, and tool management for assigned disciplines
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trade foremen to align priorities and resolve issues
• Document daily progress, maintain accurate records, and report status to project leadership
• Address technical challenges, approve rework, and drive continuous improvement on site

What We're Looking For

• Extensive construction site management experience in power generation, industrial, or infrastructure projects
• Deep knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation principles, and process control systems
• Mastery of electrical codes and standards applicable to power plants
• OSHA 30-hour certification in construction safety or equivalent credentials
• Proven track record leading and motivating construction teams
• Strong planning, scheduling, and project management capabilities
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
• Ability to thrive in demanding, schedule-intensive construction environments
• Valid driver's license and ability to commute to the Illinois Medical District site
