About the Role

As a Police Officer Trainee, you'll work alongside sworn officers to deliver community-focused public safety services. This non-sworn position serves as a pathway into the law enforcement profession, combining hands-on training with meaningful duties that contribute directly to Tracy's safety and service mission.

What You'll Do

• Support law enforcement operations and assist sworn officers in the field and at the station
• Respond to public inquiries and provide information to community members
• Prepare reports and maintain records related to police operations
• Perform community outreach and engagement activities
• Assist with evidence handling, property management, and administrative tasks
• Participate in training and professional development to build law enforcement knowledge

What We're Looking For

• Valid California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (PELLETB) written exam score, dated within six months of application
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Sound judgment, reliability, and commitment to ethical conduct
• Ability to pass a background investigation and medical clearance
